Using the RNDI with a Fractal Axe-Fx
Guitarist Nick Mayer (Zach Williams) walks us through his rig, and tells us what it sounded like the first time he plugged his Fractal Axe-Fx III into an RNDI.
This is a trick we've seen done by a few other guitarists and engineers out there, and the feedback we've heard has been pretty stellar. If you've got a Fractal (or any other modeling amp) we recommend you check it out.

A little confused, how can this be calibrated to work with my HD 650 | Sennheiser 300 ohms? I don't see any "calibration display" that could operate as such and make sure the output is set correctly for 300 ohm?
How many f…. Times did I heard the same thing: “this digital s….. sounds and feels like analog s…..” bull….
I dont think he works on a console anymore
💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯This is the one i'm looking at
💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯And this is why i don't understand why people want to spend money on a cheap knock off. Get the real deal.

Soon all that gear will be replaced by a computer and artificial inteligence software that equalizes and mixes the instruments just like the band wants it.
For modelers that have an XLR mic level input option, going Instrument -> RNDI -> Modeler on the frontend does something really interesting with the transients and high end quack. Check it out.
Demo sound 5:45
This is killer. I never thought about using an RNDI with the Fractal. This sounds great!
Close your eyes and picture Goku with a suit explaining how to make your voice stronger
I feel like im driving my mic too hard now just to get usable signals
Give us a call (+1 512-847-3013) or email (info@rupertneve.com) for tips on your gain staging if you'd like! But the Newton should have more than enough gain for any source / mic.
@@RupertNeveDesigns ty will do
LOVE my Shelford. It's the one piece I would never sell....
Does the Yamaha DM3-D also work to control the RMP-D8?
Yes! Native control is offered for all DM, CL, QL, and PM Series consoles.
Thank you for all of your hard work sir, rest in peace
Portico 2 all day
This man changed my music and audio world. Thank you Mr. Neve, you are a legend. See you in the next life!
Thank you, Goku, for teaching me how to make my voice stronger 🙏
I have a pair of Portico II channels that I use for tracking and mastering. These things are incredibly versatile and turn everything they touch into sonic goodness.
Is he basically just building off of Dave’s set up?
Oes it have a xlr in on the back for a mic vocal
Tsk, tsk, tsk.
Looking for donations to have.the.DM7.
I've been supported by Elliot in the case of my Portico II Channel needing a new part. They sent it right out and helped me get it installed. Everything Elliot said in this video is 100% true. I felt very valued as a Neve customer by Elliot and the whole Neve team!
Hey, I know you. :) Ola here. Love the video and RND stuff!
Sounds the same way before and after😐
Why is there hum/buzz, pumping, muddiness and distortion in a supposedly high end sound device promo video?
Very efficient and effective! Which Yamaha network switch is used?
We can't recall, but it was nothing especially fancy or specific! Feel free to email us if you're looking for recommendations: info@rupertneve.com
Can you use the mbt bus transformer for mixing vocals?
Absolutely - it's extremely useable on any stereo source.
It's in '' virtual '' in your vidéo. Does that mean that you can't use the '' on strip '' gain knob for exemple ?
It shows as "virtual" because we re-created the screen capture in the DM7 offline editor so the process would be easier to follow (i.e. look better than aiming a camera at the DM7's touchscreen). We're not sure what you mean by "on strip" gain knob, but you do use the console's physical knobs to change the RMP-D8's gain, not the touchscreen. Hopefully that answers your question!
@@RupertNeveDesigns OK ! That's what I wanted to say ! Thank you. That's really great !
Can you control silk from the DM7?
@@bearklenda7409 The RMP-D8 doesn't have variable / switchable Silk - but the custom transformers in the RMP do have a predetermined level of Silk "baked in".
S U P E R ......... გენაცვალე მიშო, მემაყები მეგობარო..........იხარე იჯანმრთელე
I have enjoyed using this module and is far better than any plugin.
The physics of sound, sir. I was taught this when I was 14. I've been an audio engineer since. Whatever your gear (digital is perfectly fine, too) if you understand this as a truth and know your tools, you're golden. This was a really cool feature from the voice actor of Goku. <3
This is where the money goes when you pay for school.
Love to think Mr. Neve looking down saying I left the company in good hands
Beautiful!
How do you physically move the link jumper from the off to on position… does it slide from right to left? Do I push it with my finger or a screw driver?..should it click into place? It seems delicate and I don’t want to force it… it doesn’t seem to move very easily…
Hi! You lift the black jumper block up and off, then slide it back down on the other pin. Give us a shout if you have any questions: rupertneve.com/support
Thank You so Much! Maybe include that in the manual or in another video... thanks again!!
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Hi Heba! Nice seeing you thrive! Did you ever build a modular into an accordion case?😂😂😂
Why doesn’t my Channel 7 and 8s seem to work?
Can I use channel 7 or 8 to output back to my interface?!
If you're using DB25 to hook up the R6 to your interface, Ch7+8 on the R6 are pass-through I/O for the remaining 2 channels on the DB25 cable. (Since the R6 only uses 6 channels, 7+8 would be otherwise unused.)
@@RupertNeveDesigns hi again can you please give an example of how channels 7-8 can be utilized…. It’s hurting my brain a little bit…
Awesome, he seems like a chill dude!
SUPB 💗💢👌👌
I have a 5088, 5052’s, and just got some of the SE RND mics. But my favorite thing in my studio will always be the bobble head lol
Wish AMS Neve was like this
My guy Elliott my therapist 🦶🏽💿💯
I have a pair of Shelford 5051 modules. A few years ago, I some how connected the DC power supply incorrectly on one and smelled smoke :( Neve repair dept. was really great. I got a call from them, and they couldn't find anything wrong with it. They returned it to me with no service charge! First Class company! I love the Neve gear I own.
